As the 2023 international tour of the McRib continues, now Canada has joined the tour. As reported by blogTO, it appears that McDonalds Canada is offering the McRib at a very select few locations in the Toronto area. The last time the McRib was offered in Canada was in 2013. It is possible that this very limited release is part of testing the market to see if perhaps a more broad release would be a viable opportunity.
This also creates a rare reverse scenario to past years where for some US fans it will actually be closer to go to Canada to get a McRib than to travel to another location in the United States. For those in the area, make sure to get out there and support McRib sales so that the odds improve the chances this will not be the last McRib sold in Canada for another decade!
It has been a few years, however the McRib has finally returned to Australia! We were first tipped off to the return from a fan named Jan who provided the following teaser image that was being used in Australia.
To no surprise, one of the McRib options is the “traditional” McRib.
However a unique option being offered is the McRib Deluxe.
As noted, the Deluxe brings in their cream McChicken sauce, cheese, tomato, and lettuce to top the traditional McRib. We do hear from fans that add each of these ingredients to their sandwiches, however not all on the same order. This has some resemblance to the McRibs offered in Japan and the Philippines in past years.
We have the ingredients available, would you be willing to try one while McRibs are available at participating US locations?

McRib lands in Ecuador
For the first time we have documented, the McRib is now available in Ecuador!
“Something totally delicious has arrived at McDonald’s 🙌🤤🍖You’re going to stain your hands with its delicious combination of flavors. Try the new McRib today! 🤩 For a limited time ✨ Try it before it’s gone #DesirablyDesirable Find it at your nearest McDonald’s🤤🤩”
Certainly a new take on the McRib promotion indicating that you will be staining your hands. The McRib appears to be of the original McRib style. Thank you to David for sending us confirmation of two locations in Ecuador offering the McRib.
Omissions from the US 2023 McRib season
While many places did end up having the McRib, there were still parts of the US that did not. Notably, Alaska, Idaho, most of Michigan, southern Florida, eastern Pennsylvania, New York, and the New England states all decided to skip the McRib this year. While it is not surprising that the New England states skipped the McRib as they are most likely to skip when it is not a nationwide release, these other locations are surprising. With the generally wide release again this year, it is unusual that some of these typical McRib strongholds skipped out. Make sure to let your local store Manager know you want the McRib back next year!
The price is right
A few of you may have noticed that there is some new information available on the McRib Locator webpage, pricing details. Now when submitting a new sighting, you have the option to share the McRib Sandwich price. For now, this price is only shown if the sighting is confirmed.
In the Find a McRib area, when results are returned for the McRib, confirmed sightings with prices will now show the price of the McRib Sandwich at that location. If confirmed, however no price was provided the display will continue to show “YES!!!” as it had been showing.
Finally, on the Map itself, when you click on confirmed sightings with price details provided, you will now see the McRib price shown.
That is all for this McRib Roundup. Thank you for your continued support, and for sharing your McRib sightings on the webpage!
With the 2023 US McRib Release days away, I wanted to share a few details I have collected over the years about McRib Assembly.
Each McRib should have between 8 and 12 slivers of onion.
Each McRib should have 2 pickles, and should not overlap each other.
The McRib sauce temperature is considered one of the critical parts of assembly. Too hot, and the sauce will not stay on the patty as well. Too cool, and the store will use more sauce than expected per sandwich.
McRib patties are submerged in sauce shortly after the time they are cooked on the grill and remain there until they are included in sandwich assembly.
The McRib bun has a max freezer shelf life of 60 days, but only 48 hours at room temperature. There is a balance of not enough available per day to pulling too many out of the freezer. If too many were thawed, the store may run out of buns later in the season.
