It was recently brought to our attention that Germany and Luxembourg are saying so long to the McRib. These longtime holdouts, which let fans grab a McRib when their home markets did not have one, have decided to retire our beloved sandwich. The last date that these locations will offer the classic McRib is October 27th, 2026. As one last goodbye is shared, McDonald’s in these areas is offering a McRib Sweet Heat option. From their webpage: “For a limited time only: the new McRib® Sweet Heat. A patty marinated in BBQ sauce, topped with fiery-sweet sweet chili sauce, crisp pickles, and white onions. The result? A burger that proves that less is more. Sometimes, it’s more about an extra-long bun.” While we have heard of other variations, we can’t say that we recall a “hot” variation.
While this is a disastrous blow to McRib fans around the world, we can at least take solace in that the McRib continues to show up in select markets around the globe throughout the year. Would you try this new variation? Have you ever visited Germany or Luxembourg from outside these areas and tried the McRib?
Time for the Fall 2026 McRib Roundup! A lot to cover in this update!
McRib Returns in Central America
As we have seen over the past few years, parts of Central America are currently offering the McRib! While only Guatemala is promoting the McRib currently, we typically see it arrive shortly after in Honduras and El Salvador. The Guatemala McDonald’s Instagram requires sign-in to see their content, however they have a number of McRib related reels. This year the McRib here is offered in the classic, bacon, or double meat variations.
McRib coming soon to the US market
Once Central America begins offering the McRib in recent years, the US market follows a few weeks later. After a number of calls around to McDonald’s locations, we know now the McRib will be returning to the US by November 1st, 2026. As in the past, only certain stores will be opting into offering the McRib. It seems the largest block of stores opting out are again the New England states. Additionally, stores I was able to reach in Idaho also said no regarding the return. The specific release date per store will vary anywhere from a week prior to November 1st up to November 1st. Make sure to share your sightings!
Updates to the webpage
I have been “cooking” up a number of changes for this season to make looking for and reporting McRibs easier.
Homepage is now the Map. Previously, the homepage for the webpage had a summary of McRib activity in case so you could quickly get the latest information. This data is still shown on the landing page, however in a smaller space so that the Map of sightings can be viewed here as well. This should help optimize the experience for visitors like yourself.
McRib Locator homepage 2026
Find a McRib. Previously, using the Find feature would take you to a new prompt where you could either use your device determined GPS address, or you could use another manually entered address. Now when you use the find feature, the Map will refocus so nearby McRib Sightings are shown around your device determined GPS location. You can still pan around the map to see additional availability.
Near Me prompt 2026
Map Searching improvements. Here the selector for the range to search has been improved to allow you to search either a number of days back, or a specific date range. Here the date selection is no longer an annoying pop-up window. You also have an option to only return sightings that are confirmed, and another option to return sightings confirmed with pricing. You will see a “Near Me” button which functions the same as the Find a McRib feature, and the “Perform Search” which will not refocus the map.
Search Interface 2026
Reporting Updates. The Reporting interface has been updated. After entering your information and optionally the McRib price, the interface is more user friendly. After selecting your location you now have an option to upload your receipt here instead of needing to craft an email. When you decide to return to the map, the map will focus on the location you just reported.
