About Alan

From a deep hunger for the McRib, Alan created the McRib Locator to help all McRib fans find the elusive sandwich.

McRib International News

While the last sales of the McRib in the United States were somewhere between February 13th and 15th, that has not resulted in a lack of availability of the McRib globally.

On February 20th I was informed that the McRib has shown up on McDonalds menu’s in Spain. I was also informed they will be there through April 16th (thanks @M1Q3). Upon review of the McDonald’s site for Spain, I indeed was able to confirm they have them. In the ad on the webpage, they ask readers to run to your nearest restaurant and get one. The map shown is an interesting play on a location map showing where the nearest McDonalds is. Perhaps a nod to a certain locator website?

In other related news, a McRib spinoff has been reported in Austria. The McRibster has gathered the headlines from various news sources such as Time http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/03/01/oh-yes-its-real-mcdonalds-austria-introduces-deep-fried-mcrib/. A deep fried McRib patty with bacon and pepper jack cheese does hold an appeal to me, however I can’t see it replacing our “original” variety here. This isn’t the first spinoff, Japan late last year also offered a different take on the pork sandwich.

2011 – 2012 McRib Production Volume

I recently received a newsletter from a friend in the know (thanks Stephen!) highlighting the production of the McRib patty at Lopez Foods (see earlier related post). The highlights are that in 25 days of production, over 8 MILLION pounds of McRib patties were produced! The newsletter also offers a glimpse into the McRib production as there are images offered from within the facility. In contrast, McDonalds sells 9 MILLION pounds of french fries PER DAY (src: http://www.aboutmcdonalds.com/mcd/student_zone/FAQs.html)

Below is the redacted newsletter (last names of employees have been redacted).

BOGO McRibs Continue in Los Angeles Area

Showing that they are in for the long haul, a McDonalds in the LA area stepped up their advertising from a simple sheet of paper to a more formal ad (note I spliced together the two images I was sent to show off the full ad):

Notice that the promotion runs through February 15, 2012 OR while supplies last.

This leaves one to wonder how many McRibs this store actually ordered, or if their sales were that far off for some reason. I can tell you with certainty, if this promotion was running in my neighborhood, the McRibs would run out well in advance of Feb 15. For now, all I have is Californian Dreamin, although hopefully not a crazed dream like this one I found.

If you find a McRib, please mark your sighting at McRibLocator.com and be sure to send us a photo of your receipt showing the purchase so that we may mark it as confirmed. As the McRib has mostly gone back into hibernation, your help is needed in these increasingly desperate McRib times.

Buy one Get one McRibs

We have received several updates with photos to confirm the McRib is still in the Los Angeles area. In today’s update, the person has discovered that at 3454 Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles, they are now offering buy one get one McRibs.

This most certainly is an effort to clear the remaining inventory before the McRib is removed from the menu. So if you live in the LA area, and have a desire for one last McRib this season, this appears to be the best deal in town.

If you find a McRib, please mark your sighting at McRibLocator.com and be sure to send us a photo of your receipt showing the purchase so that we may mark it as confirmed.

McRib Season Over …or is it?

Update 11/19/2011

A friend and I went out to find a McRib for lunch yesterday. Upon finding the McRib, we asked how much longer the McRib would be on the menu at this Eagan, MN location. The first employee said “until the end of the year”, then asked his manager. The Manager said that he expected them to remain until January 6th! Can’t wait for a New Years McRib!

Original Post 11/17/2011

While the official date (November 14th) has came and went, we continue to receive reports of the McRib remaining available. Several reports have surfaced indicating that November 22nd may be the last date, and we earlier reported that some locations may be keeping the McRib through this month, and possibly longer.

Have you heard any rumors at your local McDonalds regarding the remaining availability of the the McRib? Please Share them here so others know too!

As always, make sure to report your McRib Sighting at http://mcriblocator.com, and send us a photo of your McRib receipt so that we make your sighting as confirmed.
