McRib returns in Pennsylvania

We received an email today about the return of the McRib in Northeast Pennsylvania from a member of the marketing team in that region. All 67 restaurants in their coop will be serving the McRib officially starting October 27th through the end of November! Most of these locations are currently participating in a soft release, meaning they have McRibs NOW! As such, we have added these locations into the potential sighting list so fans in the region know which locations to investigate.

Additionally, pricing information in this region is as follows:
A single sandwich is priced at $2.99(plus tax).
A Medium Extra Value Meal is $4.99 (plus tax).
Add an additional McRib to the purchase of an Extra Value Meal for $1.00 (plus tax).

Are you able to confirm one of these locations before the 27th of October? If/when you find a McRib, please mark your sighting at McRibLocator.com and be sure to send us a photo (photos@mcriblocator.com) of your receipt showing the purchase so that we may mark it as confirmed.

Meanwhile in the Philippines – New Desire

Guatemala, Germany, and the United States are not the only locations currently serving the McRib around the globe. For what is being reported as the first time, the Philippines are getting into the mix. Not only are they offering the McRib as served in the United States and Germany, they are also offering an option without bun, add rice. This variant is being called the Glazed Pork BBQ with rice.

An in-depth well writen write-up on the offering can be found at Pinas Muna. It is clear from their write-up that they liked both variations and found it to be very popular in their area.

What do you think about the Glazed Pork BBQ with rice? If you had the choice between this and the regular McRib which would you pick?

Score a McRib while you can

Today we received a photo of in-store details regarding the return of the McRib in one area of Colorado.

2014 In-Store Details

It appears that the promotion tagline this year will be “Score a McRib while you can”.

More importantly noted is that the McRib will be served from October 20th through November 16th at this and other locations within this service area. Granted sales may end sooner or may run longer depending on inventory.

At this location they have the option to offer buy an Extra Value Meal and get a McRib for yet to be determined price. Last year several locations offered a buy a combo get a McRib for $1 which was very popular where available.

If/when you find a McRib, please mark your sighting at McRibLocator.com and be sure to send us a photo (photos@mcriblocator.com) of your receipt showing the purchase so that we may mark it as confirmed.

First Western Hemisphere Confirmation for fall 2014 is….

We have received our first confirmation of the 2014 season within the Western Hemisphere! While typically this has first arrived in the United States, this year the first sighting is in Guatemala.

As noted on the official Guatemalan McDonalds Twitter account, there appear to be a lot of people there excited about the return. As of this message, nothing official on their webpage, however their Twitter page is busy with news of the Unmatchable McRib. They are however sporting a unique McRib Shirt:

Website Update

We are pleased to announce that we have recently completed an overhaul of the website. Let us know what you think.

Highlights:
1) Easier to find the nearest McRib using our find page. If your browser supports geolocation and you opt to share that with us, we can search for the nearest 5 sightings to you. Your location is only used at the time of lookup, you will need to refresh the page as you move about.
find

2) Reporting a McRib Sighting has moved to a dedicated page. We had too much going on on the map page before, so we have simplified this. Alike the find page, the reporting page can use geolocation data to simplify the reporting process.

3) Embedded search and legend for map. Again, to help simplify what content goes with what, we pulled the map off to its own page. When the map loads, you will see a “Legend” button at the bottom of the map. Click it to be reminded what the color and icons shown represent. There is also a search button at the top of the map allowing you to filter your search or to look back to see where the McRib had been reported. In the past.

4) The webpage now has a mobile friendly viewing experience. That pesky menu bar is now available in a mobile specific layout that allows easier navigation of the site. The new find and report features should work great too.
