McRib Revolution Continues in Texas, McRib event planned.

As reported yesterday, we know the McRib has returned in parts of Texas. Today we received additional photo proof (via receipt photos and McRib photos) that the McRib is cropping up at several other locations there as well. We have had numerous other reports of the McRib at other locations, however without the photo confirmation we leave those to the fans in the areas to help us validate the sightings.

Here are few of the photos we received today:

Additionally today we received word of a McRib Madness Party coming up in the Houston area. In what is billing as the #PilgRIBage, there will be a “Texas sized” McRib Madness Party for McRib fans at 7606 Westheimer in Houston, TX (77057) on November 14th from 9pm until the boneless pigs fly home (or until around midnight, whichever comes first). Not only will you be able to feast upon the McRib, but there will be McRib giveaways, McRib Swag, a mobile gaming truck and other games, prices, music, and even a live local DJ on site.

For those unable to attend, we plan to have some pilRIBage photos to share following the event. If you go, feel free to send us photos as well as we suspect there will be a lot of fans at home drooling over the excitement in Houston. Follow along via Twitter @MCD_Houston.

1st McRib of 2012 Season

As we earlier reported, the first confirmed McRib sighting was in El Paso, TX and was sighted by Erica A. Erica actually had her first McRib yesterday, following a lunch time desire for french fries. An additional interesting tidbit is that the McDonalds nearest Erica was closed for remodeling, thus she ended up at this location. Erica didn’t capture a photo of her receipt yesterday, however met up with her husband today for some saucy love at McDonalds and provided a receipt to acknowledge confirmation.

We also received a few reports of McRibs being available at other locations in Texas today, however have not yet received receipts to confirm these sightings.

November 3, 2012 McRib Release Update

We just received an email from a McRib fan in the Topeka, Kansas area with a photo from the 1100 Kansas Ave McDonalds indicating a November 12th release for them.




We also received an tip from one fan that wished to remain anonymous that the McRib would also be returning November 12th to Wentzville, Missouri.

A quick update on the what we have heard about the 2012 McRib return thus far. The latest information we have indicates that the McRib will be returning sometime in November, or possibly as late as December. We have had a few reports that the return may be within the next few weeks, although no hard dates reported yet.

Old Navy sinks their teeth into McRib Mania

I was recently informed via Katie K and Darrel L (thank you both!) that Old Navy is offering a “McRib is Back” tshirt.



At $16.94 and sizes Small to XXXL, it seems that they are trying to reach out to a vast majority of the McRib fans. While this is a great opportunity to grab some licensed memorabilia, will you be grabbing one?

If you do happen to pick one up, send us a picture (mcribphotos@mcriblocator.com) of you wearing it so we may include it in an upcoming post showcasing McRib fans. We will be picking 3 of the submissions to be part of the McRib fan of the Week which, in addition to bragging rights, will earn you a McRib Locator pen.

In the meantime, if you happen to catch news of the McRib coming to your McDonalds, please let us know when they are planning to stock it. We have heard from Angie S (thank you Angie) that one of the McDonalds in Greenville SC is going to offer the McRib starting mid-November!

McRib Release Delayed?

As originally pointed out at Advertising Age and rebroadcasted at The Huffington Post an other news sources, it appears the 2012 McRib release has been pushed off into the later part of December.

While our earlier reports hinted at a earlier than normal release, holding back inventory is not out of the picture. While the McRib patty itself is easy enough to store in the freezer, one has to wonder how the McRib bun production will shake down as the bun is not as easily stored.

Although the delay is a bummer, at least now we can encourage that the McRib be left out for Santa instead of cookies, and/or you can break in the New Year with a McRib BBQ laced lip exchange with your significant other.
