The McRib is not only back in Guatemala, however also in other Central America countries as well. Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Honduras also are offering the McRib currently. In these additional countries, there is also a McRib with bacon option.

As part of the #McDíaFeliz2022 festivities at the McDonald’s Guatemala locations, it was announced the McRib would return starting September 23, 2022. The sandwich is being advertised as only being able to be ordered if you use their mobile app. It is assumed the online only ordering is for the 23rd with traditional ordering possible at a later date. Below are photos McDonald’s Guatemala has shared on social media for the event and also for the release of the McRib. We last saw the McRib in May of 2021.
With just a few days before the official release, I wanted to provide an update on where we are currently at in the rollout of the 2021 US McRib Release.
McDonalds 2021 Promotion
McDonalds has announced their 2021 McRib promotion, and it will be an opportunity for McRib fans to win a NFT (non-fungible token). These digital version of the McRib will go out to 10 fans that are selected from a list of participants. To participate, fans need to retweet the Sweepstakes Invitation between November 1 and November 7th. More details about this promotion can be found in the link above. When the sweepstakes promotion starts we will share a link here. They even include a reference to the McRib Locator in their press release.
Confirmations
Many confirmations are coming in ahead of the designated November 1st release. Thank you for each report and confirmation! You are a critical piece of making this crowdsourcing effort work! New to the experience? Make sure to first report your McRib sighting on our webpage. After adding your report send us a photo of your receipt (photos@mcriblocator.com) showing which location you purchased your McRib at. We still want your confirmations
While we know that most if not all US locations will be offering the McRib by November 1st, we still want to hear from you about your confirmations. Unfortunately at some point the McRib will drop from menus again. At that time we want to make sure fans can still secure those last McRibs of the season, or possibly to stock up for the offseason and we need your help to get the latest information to other fans. We will take every report and confirmation we can get!
After some looking around, I found that the offerings there will be the “classic” McRib, an option with cheese, an option with two patties, and an option of adding bacon. The McRib will be offered at “more than 65 restaurants” in Costa Rica, which is interesting as Wikipedia and other sources say the number of stores is much fewer than 65.
We received a message today from McRib fan David M showing him with the McRib and a receipt providing us with our first 2021 McRib confirmation. I quickly dialed up the store and the employee confirmed that they are indeed already selling the McRib, however it may not be on the actual menu yet. Our first confirmed McRib of the 2021 season is at 1105 Old Berry Dr in Abingdon, VA!

This is very exciting news, especially as the announced release is still nearly a month away. While the store employee was unable to offer additional details regarding the current release, if you arrive there today you can in fact get a McRib. It is likely other stores around the US are also offering the McRib early, as if one store has the components needed others will also have them. As the McRib season ends across the United States, the season is in full swing in Mexico. The McRib is available at all McDonalds locations in Mexico throughout March. As far as our records indicate, the McRib has not been offered in Mexico in 12 years! We hope those in Mexico enjoy this limited time option!

McRibs are back in the US for 2019! We have been receiving a number of confirmations today from all over the lower 48 states. Most interesting is the number of reports for locations that have not had confirmations for a number of years. As such, it came as no surprise today when media outlets began reporting that this year’s season would result in 10,000 stores offering the tasty BBQ sandwich resulting in a number of locations offering the McRib that had not in recent year. This is a significant increase compared to last year’s release.

When can fans begin to see the McRib in the US?
We sampled a number of stores today to see what is new. We found that the McRib will begin more widespread rollout coming up next week. While there are additional locations offering the sandwich this year, some locations will see a minor change to when you can have the sandwich. A number of locations, not all, are restricting the McRib to the before midnight menu. This feels like a compromise with locations that felt the sandwich was too messy to offer. With a limited number of hours of availability the messy nature of the sandwich can be less of an impact.
How long will the McRib be around?
How long will this year’s season be? Some of the stores we talked with said they are planning through the end of November. As a limited time item, the McRib can and will disappear sooner at some locations. History tells us that locations that less commonly offer the McRib will have less inventory to sell.
