McRib saw limited 2014 release in the UK

After hunting a bit on the web, we found that we missed out when Burger Lad reported that for a brief period of time during June 2014 the McRib was being tested at a select group of McDonalds in the UK.

Based on the comments, it appears that the UK may see a more widespread release of the McRib this coming January! Finally the cries across the UK for the return of the McRib will be answered.

World Cup McRib

In honor of the World Cup in Brazil, McDonalds Brazil has brought to their menu variations of a few favorite sandwiches from around the globe. Fittingly, they are offering a McRib sandwich variant. This sandwich claims to be inspired from Germany, where we all know the McRib is available year round.

Description Translation: Pork in format of special, lettuce, cheese with pepper, pickles, red onion and mustard sauce German bread in particular.

McRib WorldWide Tour Continues

The McRib continues its worldwide tour, now available in Cyprus. Upon loading the Cyprus McDonalds website, visitors are welcomed with the following YouTube clip:

Looking more into the promotion doesn’t provide much more details other than the price of this “Pork with BBQ Sauce” sandwich. However, after visiting their Facebook page, we are presented a McRib returns contest for residents of Cyprus. Looking at the legal print, this contest runs from January 10, 2014 through February 16, 2014. The February 16, 2014 date may also indicate when the McRib will be leaving Cyprus to continue its worldwide tour. Below are some shots from the game.

Where do you think the McRib should show up next?

Confirmed: No McRib in the Boston area

I was contacted yesterday by Morgan Rousseau of the Metro reporting from Boston indicating that the McRib had been confirmed not available in the Boston area. You can read that story here.

All is not lost. We just received confirmations from Washington, South Carolina, Texas, and Las Vegas, so we know it is still out there in some markets. Might be a good time to pack up and escape the frigid snowy conditions of the Northeast and head to Vegas!

McRib arrives in South Korea

We were tipped off by Jan Eric Andersson that the McRib has arrived in South Korea. Provided was the following photo from what appears to be a release party there for the sandwich and related contest.

A peek at the South Korea McDonalds website confirms the availability.

Their YouTube clip showing their advertisement has the patty taking a rather odd fall from above.

It appears that they are running some type of contest with what they are calling the “Lucky Burger”. Having the McRib is lucky enough, adding a contest makes it a Very Lucky Burger. See their contest page here.

It appears they will be serving this McRib variant through January 29.

McRib now available in the Dominican Republic

We received a confirmation (thank you Orlando) this weekend that the McRib has arrived in the Dominican Republic for the first time!

While McDonalds has had a presence in the Dominican Republic since 1996, we haven’t yet been able to track down any official dates on availability. We will continue to track down more details and pass them along as they become available.
