McRib Survival Kits in the New York Tri-State Area

We were tipped off to a promotion now underway in the New York Tri-State area. In this promotion, McRib fans are asked to check into their local New York Tri-State area McDonalds on Foursquare and then shout #MyMcRib to @McDNYTriState on Twitter to win one of these highly coveted McRib survival kits.

Here is an example of a reply to a Twitter entry:

Act fast, there are only 100 of these kits available, and I suspect they are going to move fast. See the official rules here.

The kit includes:
* 1 “I’m a McRib Lover” Dr. Pepper T-Shirt
* 1 McRib Button
* 1 “I Love Ribs” disposable plastic bib
* 1 McDonald’s Fries Sticker
* 1 Dr. Pepper NonWoven Tote
* 2 Wet Ones Singles Antibacterial Cleansing Wipes
* 2 coupons for a complimentary McRib (only good at participating McDonalds in the New York Tri-State area)

These leaves me to wonder, what would YOU do for a McRib Survival kit?

McRib season over already?

While McRib season is finally underway nationwide across the US, Northwest Indiana McDonalds (McD_NWIndiana) is reporting the McRib in that region will only be around for six, yes I said 6, more days!

With the McRib’s return starting early in many locations (yes, I am very jealous of those of you that had it early November), it was expected to see the McRib head off into the sunset a bit sooner at some locations.

As we always mention, if/when you find a McRib, please mark your sighting at McRibLocator.com and be sure to send us a photo (photos@mcriblocator.com) of your receipt showing the purchase so that we may mark it as confirmed.

McRib Release Monday

Monday Dec 17th marks the start of the 2012 United States nationwide release of the McRib! We heard of some locations running out/holding back supply leading up to this pinnacle moment, however they assure their customers that the McRib will be available for this event.

Joe Paradise found this message when he stopped at a McDonald’s in Grayson, GA Dec. 15, 2012. “Due to the McRib being such a great item, we regret to inform you that we have no McRibs until tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience. McDonald’s Staff”

With the nationwide release only a short time away, now is an opportune time to enter our McRib photo contest for a chance to win a McRib Locator pen. We hope to have a few other prizes to offer soon, so make sure to capture a photo and share it with us at photos@mcriblocator.com.

We would also like to remind users of our website that we are constrained in the number of sightings we can show on the map at one time to around 500 sightings at a time. This being the case, if you scroll down under the advertisement for Catrina’s Toy Box you will see an option to search on the page.

You do NOT need to enter a start and/or end date if you do not want to, however you can provide the state/s of interest (in their 2 letter abbreviated form, separated by commas) and opt to show all sightings or only those that are confirmed.

If/when you find a McRib, please mark your sighting at McRibLocator.com and be sure to send us a photo (photos@mcriblocator.com) of your receipt showing the purchase so that we may mark it as confirmed.

Android McRib Locator App Now Available

After an extensive wait, we have finally released the Android McRib Locator App! This free app is now available in the Google Play Store.

A brief overview:

  1. Settings: Starting with the feature that might make it easiest to use the application, defining the settings for yourself will save you time when reporting a McRib sighting, or submitting a photo. Enter your name, your email, and the country you will be using the app within, then return to the Main Menu. Once defined, you will not be asked for these fields when they are needed.
  2. Submit Sighting: Start by selecting if we should try to find the nearest McDonalds Restaurant near you by your GPS, or you may submit the entry by providing the address as you would on the McRib Locator page. You will then be prompted to select the nearest McDonalds to the given address/coordinates.
  3. Find a McRib: Much like the Submit Sighting option, you will be presented with an option to use your GPS or enter an address manually. After the address is found, the nearest locations with confirmed or unconfirmed sightings are presented. Clicking on the location will launch a mapping program of your choice (or the default mapping program) to provide you with directions to the McDonalds Restaurant. Make sure to double check BEFORE traveling any great distance in case the location has ran out of McRibs.
  4. Submit Receipt Photo: Already have your sighting reported? Then it is time to submit a photo of the receipt so that we may mark your sighting as confirmed. Take the photo with your phone, then submit the receipt and your Android email service will launch with a generated email for you to send. Review that and send it in. We will review the email and mark your sighting confirmed.

Try it out today Android users and let us know what you think.

If you have any issues, please let us know (contact@mcriblocator.com) and we will take a look into them as best we can. The more details you can provide the better. For example, a message as simple as “does not work on my phone” really doesn’t help us narrow down what the issue might be.

McRib 2012 Photo Contest

With the flux of McRib confirmation emails coming in, we like to look for and share unique photos of the McRib and/or promotional material around the McRib. Today we noticed that the McRib promotion is calling the McRib “the Ultimate Pork Sandwich” and the title is fitting (at least from our point of view).

As we count down the days until the return of the McRib, we would like to have a friendly contest of who can provide the most unique photos (family friendly of course) of the McRib and/or McRib promotional material. Send your picture to photos@mcriblocator.com before December 20th and we will sort through and showcase the images we think are best. Following this, we will ask that you vote on which photos you like most and the winner will receive one of our McRib Locator pens.

If/when you find a McRib, please mark your sighting at McRibLocator.com and be sure to send us a photo (photos@mcriblocator.com) of your receipt showing the purchase so that we may mark it as confirmed.
