October 10, 2022 McRib Update

October 10, 2022 McRib Update :

Globally

We currently see the McRib on menus in parts of Central America, Malta, and where it remains on menus year round in Germany. Will we see something in October in Japan, Australia, or Canada? I continue to monitor to see if we might see a return in other markets globally.

United States Notes

Following the first week of October internal store conversations that we mentioned previously, we now know that the McRib is returning at participating US locations the last week of October. I called around to numerous stores to see if I could find a more specific date for release. Nearly all stores I spoke with were willing to confirm either “end of October” or “last week of October”. There is one location in Florida that is indicating a return around October 18th. While having a more definite date is great, the best news from my calling was that it appears this will again be a nationwide release. Places I called that historically have opted out of selling the McRib plan to have the sandwich this season.

How you can help

As we get closer to the release date, please be on the lookout for the McRib and report the return when it is on menus in your area. We know that the locations that are first to offer the McRib are generally the first to see it go. It is much appreciated having help from fans like you to help other fans find the sandwich. If you find the McRib, please drop a report on our map, and then if you purchase the sandwich please send us a receipt showing the date, store, and price of the McRib sandwich at your location.

McRib season returns to Malta

McRib season returns to Malta for 2022! The advertising campaign features an 80’s style retro feel. The two images shared show the 80’s theme, and their very short YouTube video throws us back to the time that McRib was just starting to appear on menus.

McRib is back in Malta!

The last time we were alerted to the McRib in Malta was in 2015.

If/when you find a McRib where you are traveling, please remember to add your sighting on our map. Please also drop us an email with a receipt showing the location of purchase, and showing the McRib purchase so that we are able to mark your sighting as confirmed.

2022 Central America McRib return

Update September 25, 2022 :

The McRib is not only back in Guatemala, however also in other Central America countries as well. Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Honduras also are offering the McRib currently. In these additional countries, there is also a McRib with bacon option.

Original Post:

As part of the #McDíaFeliz2022 festivities at the McDonald’s Guatemala locations, it was announced the McRib would return starting September 23, 2022. The sandwich is being advertised as only being able to be ordered if you use their mobile app. It is assumed the online only ordering is for the 23rd with traditional ordering possible at a later date. Below are photos McDonald’s Guatemala has shared on social media for the event and also for the release of the McRib. We last saw the McRib in May of 2021.

2022 October Trick or Treat?

We recently were alerted by fellow McRib fan Carla C (thank you!) that there was evidence shared online of details about a 2022 October Release. The following “Employment Calendar” was shared in a group on social media.

McDonalds Employment Calendar showing the McRib returning October 4th, 2022 (photo from "Forever Fall and Halloween" Facebook group)

Note that on October 4th the McRib sandwich is shown! The tile floor is the classic McDonalds look, and the other offerings listed suggest that this is not a fabrication.

I have been calling around to stores to see if I could capture more details. One store confirmed that the McRib would be back in October. This location was unable to confirm the specific date. Another location indicates that they would have it this fall. They could not be more specific as no product has arrived yet so the date was not yet certain. Other locations contacts had no additional details, however with the potential release a couple of weeks away this is not unexpected.

Additional data suggests that the release will be mid-month to late month. In addition to the image above, there are images floating around suggesting that the “Halloween Pails” event will start October 18th, 2022. This would further the idea that the October 4th date is the date product should begin arriving. Note that the Halloween Pails are shown October 4th, however the calendar shows these begin to be sold the 18th.

If/when you find a McRib where you are traveling, please remember to add your sighting on our map. Please also drop us an email with a receipt showing the location of purchase, and showing the McRib purchase so that we are able to mark your sighting as confirmed.

Fun Stories

There have already been some very interesting stories coming in of McRib ordering experiences. From managers running the first McRibs sold to the customer waiting outside, to creative ways of selling the McRib when they are not yet in the system, we love to hear about your experiences with the McRib. Please share with us any unique experiences you have so that we can share these with other fans!

Upcoming Giveaway Opportunities

While not the pens or window clings offered in the past, we do have a couple of items that we will be giving out to fans this season. Stay tuned for more details!

We still want your confirmations

While we know that most if not all US locations will be offering the McRib by November 1st, we still want to hear from you about your confirmations. Unfortunately at some point the McRib will drop from menus again. At that time we want to make sure fans can still secure those last McRibs of the season, or possibly to stock up for the offseason and we need your help to get the latest information to other fans. We will take every report and confirmation we can get!

Costa Rica sees 2021 McRib Release

Received a heads up and confirmation from Wagner L that the McRib has returned to McDonalds’ menus across Costa Rica!

Wagner shared this photo of the McRib container

After some looking around, I found that the offerings there will be the “classic” McRib, an option with cheese, an option with two patties, and an option of adding bacon. The McRib will be offered at “more than 65 restaurants” in Costa Rica, which is interesting as Wikipedia and other sources say the number of stores is much fewer than 65.
