A quick 2023 US McRib release update today. I have been calling stores around the United States to try to find out more certainly when the McRib is likely to return to participating locations. While many locations had nothing certain, there is enough confidence that I can share the following details.
When
Based on the stores that were able to share a date, it appears most locations that will offer the McRib will be offering it starting around November 13, 2023. Past store optional releases have shown that generally stores that offer will begin selling around the same time, with some markets up to a week or so later. Additionally, oftentimes the date on the calendars is the advertising start date rather than the date the McRib returns to menus. This means some locations are likely to see the McRib making a soft return to menus in the days leading up to the 13th.
Where
The next question you are probably wondering is if the McRib will be near you. Many of the locations called were not 100% sure the McRib would be back, which is not super surprising at a little under a month away. I would expect more employees will become aware of the McRib returning over the next week or two, which is why I did not start calling sooner to stores. Reviewing past data from years with the store optional releases yields the following map of states most likely to offer the McRib this season.

Yes, sorry. They have it at CERTAIN KC metro locations. i had to actually ask the worker though. it was not advertised on the board outside the drive thru and it isnt available to order in the app.

I’m in South Jersey in the Cherry Hill-Marlton-Mt Laurel area. I contacted two of the McDonalds. One said that they will have the McRib in the first week of December, while the other said that they will have it at around Nov. 17. So it looks like at least Southern New Jersey will be getting it soon.
Unfortunately, the advance information I received were mistaken. When I called again yesterday, Nov. 17, they sadly told me that their restaurants in South Jersey will not be getting the McRib. So I fired up my McDonalds app on my phone and, lo and behold, if you change your location in the app, it will give you a list of McDonalds restaurants at that location and if you select one of those restaurants and then check the menu, it will tell you whether that restaurant has the McRib.
So I used that technique to discover that many McDonalds in New Jersey and Philadelphia area did not have the McRib. It was possible that none in those areas had it. (It was not feasible for me to check every restaurant in the app.) The entire state of Delaware apparently does not have the McRib either. According to the app, the closest one to me that had the McRib was located at Elkton, MD, the first McDonalds that you will see in that state if you drive into Maryland from Delaware on I-95. It is in fact located practically right next to the MD-DE border, being only a couple of minutes of drive from that border. The app also showed that many McDonalds in MD have the McRib and the one in Elkton was the closest to me. So what did I do? I drove 50 miles to Elkton because I just had to get my fill of the McRib. It was delicious and worth the trip. As a trophy for my effort, I kept the McRib boxes and they are still in my home as I write this. Lol.
As you can tell from my comment above that this was my first time using the app to find a McD that had the McRIb. Anyway, I will keep checking the app during the coming days to see if a McD in New Jersey or Philly area finally has the McRib. Otherwise, I will probably make one more trip to Elkton next week for more McRibs. I expect that that will be my last trip until next year since they will probably run out of McRib by the end of November.
Still nowhere in PA has it. This worry’s me greatly.
I found out Utah McDonalds will get the McRib sandwich again as we got it in 2022.
I used to work for the company that made the McRib patties for McDonalds back in the 1980’s here in Utah and I think that is why along with strong sales of it here why Utah will get it starting November 13 and sold until limited supplies run out which last year was near the end of November.
As of Nov 13, 2023 I’m not seeing it on the App even when I switch to ordering from locations that have reported sightings.
This seems to be a “normal” experience in the first few days of the McRib season. Should be on the app soon!
Are you able to see that it’s been reported near you via the website map or the “find a micrib” page? I’d suggest actually going to the restaurant and asking. I had to ask the worker if they had it as it wasn’t on the board or available in the app. They did have it though and i ordered a couple. I’m sure the app will be updated soon.
Had a false positive Saturday that caused a wasted trip to the reported location but so far, no confirmed sightings near me here in Mass.
Looks like New England got screwed again. Entire country appears to have gotten it while this whole corner of the US doesn’t. Who makes these decisions? Really screwed over one of the more populous areas of the country.

I live in Utah and McRib went on sale here on November 14.
This is the second year in a row Utah got the McRib sandwich.
Of special interest to McRib fans, I actually worked for the company that McDonalds contracted with to make the McRib patties here in Utah back in the 1980’s.
Maybe between Utah having a company contracted by McDonalds to make the McRib patties and the fact it sells well here may be the reasons Utah McDonalds get to sell it nearly every year here.
SF Bay Area has the McRib. I successfully was able to purchase and consume McRibs at a McDonald’s near the San Jose International Airport today (11/20/23), and also at a McDonald’s near the world famous Cow Palace on the border of San Francisco and Daly City on 11/17/23.
Got the McRib tonight in Los Angeles, 12/5/23. Ordered mine without sauce and added ketchup and mustard. Much better combo than all the messy BBQ sauce!
