Nearly a year ago, we saw the McRib return to Central America. Due to the popularity, it has again returned, however with a slight twist in the marketing of the sandwich. This year the sandwich is being advertised in it’s “classic” option as well as new “with cheese” and “with bacon” options.
Thus far the promotion appears to be limited to Guatemala, and just started being promoted there on October 5th, 2018. Their website doesn’t yet mention the McRib, and is still promoting their 50th Anniversary of the Big Mac. This Big Mac promotion is still ongoing in neighboring countries as well, so it is possible that the page will be updated to showcase the McRib as soon as other McDonalds stores in the region begin offering the sandwich.

Finally, the McRib has returned in Australia! Cameron Fitter (thank you!) found that the McRib is being tested at a handful of locations, with a potential expanded release this December.
The Australian McRib comes in around 1 dollar more than the Big Mac, making it unlikely to be offered there in the 2 for $5 or less options found at some US locations that offer it.
Thank you Cameron for the heads up, and for sharing your pictures!

Japan finally has had their wait for the McRib return come to an end! It is being temporarily offered as part of a contest where one of three reoccurring limited time sandwiches will become a regular menu item. They note it has been 7 years since they last had the McRib there, and is currently only the 8th time since 2001, see more about that release here.
The contest requires participants to either scan a QR code on the sandwich to vote, or to send out a tweet indicating they want their sandwich to win. The three sandwiches in the contest are the McRib, Teriyaki Chicken Filet, and a breakfast sandwich Tamago Double Mack. As of this post, the McRib is trailing the other two options.Reasons for why the McRib is behind? Well one fan explains that while the McRib tastes good, they do not like the non-circular bun.

With the help of fans like you, we have hundreds of confirmations on the map today. While the Northwest, Northern Rockies, and Northeastern US are again withholding from offering the McRib this year, we see the McRib scattered well around the US as our earlier map suggested might be the case. Thank you for your contributions!
Next Round
November 6th marks the next round of stores offering the McRib. We have heard Hawaii will start offering the sandwich today, and have heard of other stores around the continental US that will also join in. If you happen across the McRib, please let us know!
Constrained inventory
While the season is just getting underway in some locations, others are struggling with the high demand for the McRib. We had heard some locations would have he McRib for as little as a week, however other locations are unexpectedly running out of inventory.
@mcriblocator We bought 2 McRib for $5 last night. However, we come to McDonald's for breakfast today. One worker say it was sold out! 😂 pic.twitter.com/WRzZEV4lMC
Not all is lost, we had heard that some locations would see additional inventory arrive yet.
35th Anniversary Swag
Who doesn’t like Swag? To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the McRib, McDonalds is offering a swag bag to select fans. No official word on how many of these will be given out nor to who they are being offered.
We have heard that some locations offering the McRib have severely constrained inventory, and do not expect the McRib to last long. Let’s help fans get the McRib while they can! If you find a McRib make sure to report it at http://mcriblocator.com/report.html and send us a photo of your receipt. The next round of McRibs arrive today November 2nd at numerous locations around the country. As you can see from our map below, the number of confirmed locations offering the McRib continues to expand.
If you do not see the McRib near you in the next day or two, don’t worry (unless you are in one of the areas we identified early this week as won’t see the McRib), another wave of McDonalds stores should see the McRib next week too. While we had over 30 new confirmations yesterday, we also picked up that the Portland, OR and Sacramento, CA areas will not see the McRib return.

Halloween 2017 Update
October 30th marked the return of the McRib to several locations across the country, an early halloween treat. between confirmations from fans (THANK YOU!) showing their receipts of their McRib purchase, to calling around the country, we continue to gather more information about what the McRib release of 2017 will look like. We will continue to provide updates as we find additional information.
Where is it now?
We currently have 15 locations that we can confirm are offering the McRib. The number of locations is likely more as many of these cities have multiple McDonalds and we are hearing from just a few. Check out our map to see the latest. Remember, markers with check marks are confirmed sightings.
Confirmed Sightings as of 10/30/2017
Where is it going to be?
We know that there will be a few other release dates that the McRib will launch in various markets. November 2nd, 6th, 7th, and potentially dates during the week of November 12th.
We have thus far been able to find that the McRib will be on the menu within the next two weeks at:
Columbia, SC
North Platte, NE
North Sioux City, SD
Brookings, SD
Mitchell, SD
Dickinson, ND
Fargo, ND
Select locations in the Twin Cities, MN after more research, it appears the early hints this return may have been confusion by employees hearing it was back in general
Where will fans be left without the McRib?
Unfortunately, as we earlier indicated, this year will not see the McRib return nationwide. We found that the McRib will not be returning, or is not likely to return, in the following cities:
Centerville, UT
Phoenix, AZ
Las Vegas, NV
Colorado Springs, CO
Denver, CO
Scotsbluff, NE
Chadron, NE
Rapid City, SD
St. Cloud, MN
Duluth, MN
Orlando, FL(must have been an uninformed employee)
Eastern NY and New Jersey
Portland, OR
Sacramento, CA
Interestingly, we found that Jim Lewis, an owner of several McDonalds locations in New York is reporting that the majority of owners decided not to bring back the McRib this year. He also has a poll running to help gauge interest in the area of a McRib return.
McRib!! NY McD Owners decide not to bring McRib back this year…thoughts?? #McRib#McDonalds
