November 2, 2017 Update

November 2, 2017 Update

The next round of McRibs arrive today November 2nd at numerous locations around the country. As you can see from our map below, the number of confirmed locations offering the McRib continues to expand.

If you do not see the McRib near you in the next day or two, don’t worry (unless you are in one of the areas we identified early this week as won’t see the McRib), another wave of McDonalds stores should see the McRib next week too. While we had over 30 new confirmations yesterday, we also picked up that the Portland, OR and Sacramento, CA areas will not see the McRib return.

Help others find the McRib

We have heard that some locations offering the McRib have severely constrained inventory, and do not expect the McRib to last long. Let’s help fans get the McRib while they can! If you find a McRib make sure to report it at http://mcriblocator.com/report.html and send us a photo of your receipt. Make sure your receipt shows the location and date purchased as well as your McRib order. Send your confirmation photo to photos@mcriblocator.com . Thank you!

Halloween 2017 McRib Update

*Updated November 1 to include additional locations the McRib will not return to.

Halloween 2017 Update

October 30th marked the return of the McRib to several locations across the country, an early halloween treat. between confirmations from fans (THANK YOU!) showing their receipts of their McRib purchase, to calling around the country, we continue to gather more information about what the McRib release of 2017 will look like. We will continue to provide updates as we find additional information.

Where is it now?

We currently have 15 locations that we can confirm are offering the McRib. The number of locations is likely more as many of these cities have multiple McDonalds and we are hearing from just a few. Check out our map to see the latest. Remember, markers with check marks are confirmed sightings.

Confirmed Sightings as of 10/30/2017

Where is it going to be?

We know that there will be a few other release dates that the McRib will launch in various markets. November 2nd, 6th, 7th, and potentially dates during the week of November 12th.

We have thus far been able to find that the McRib will be on the menu within the next two weeks at:

  • Columbia, SC
  • North Platte, NE
  • North Sioux City, SD
  • Brookings, SD
  • Mitchell, SD
  • Dickinson, ND
  • Fargo, ND
  • Select locations in the Twin Cities, MN after more research, it appears the early hints this return may have been confusion by employees hearing it was back in general

Where will fans be left without the McRib?

Unfortunately, as we earlier indicated, this year will not see the McRib return nationwide. We found that the McRib will not be returning, or is not likely to return, in the following cities:

  • Centerville, UT
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • Colorado Springs, CO
  • Denver, CO
  • Scotsbluff, NE
  • Chadron, NE
  • Rapid City, SD
  • St. Cloud, MN
  • Duluth, MN
  • Orlando, FL(must have been an uninformed employee)
  • Eastern NY and New Jersey
  • Portland, OR
  • Sacramento, CA

Interestingly, we found that Jim Lewis, an owner of several McDonalds locations in New York is reporting that the majority of owners decided not to bring back the McRib this year. He also has a poll running to help gauge interest in the area of a McRib return.

Brazil – Cheddar McRib

The McRib has returned to Brazil (thank you for the heads up Leonardo)! The offering in Brazil this year is part of their #FestivalCheddar, rounding out a trifecta of cheddar sauce enhanced offerings. The festival kicked off September 12, 2017.

Taking a closer look at the McRib, we see it served on a sesame seed circular sandwich bun, with what appears to be caramelized onions layered over cheddar cheese sauce on top of the 100% Pork McRib Patty which rests on BBQ sauce. This offering also differs from the classic McRib as it does not include pickles and the pork patty does not appear to be slathered with bbq sauce.

Brazil #FestivalCheddar Commercial

Within the commercial, we see a person eating the McRib sandwich. We can see that the patty extends outside of the bun due to the shape of the patty being rectangular vs the circular bun.

They also show off the assembly of the McRib.

McRib returns in Spain for 2016 appearance

Once again the McRib has jumped onto the menu for McDonalds customers in Spain. We were tipped off by Emilio with the following photo of his McRib.

While advertised as the BBQ Rib sandwich, this variation is served on what appears to be a cornmeal topped bun, a bit different in composition than the bun used on the traditional US version.
Here are a few more shots from McDonalds Spain

What do you think of the Spanish version of the McRib? Comment below to let us know if you think you would like this bun or the traditional bun more.
